ICT Ministry launches Cloud Service to reduce IT Investment
The ICT ministry is setting an example for SME's to follow !
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Ministry introduced the government's new cloud computing service, a drive to encourage the adoption of e-service for all state agencies. The move is aimed at stimulating state authorities to use information technology (IT) on-demand in a bid to shorten purchasing lead times. The service will include data storage, and cloud applications. Service payment will be on a monthly subscription based system. This service will encourage small state agencies to use IT On-Demand with no need for investment in up front payment. It will also help reduce IT investment by up to 30 % due to IT resource sharing among agencies. Users will no longer need to know where data is stored in any servers. Encouraging state agencies to use an intranet and on-demand services is expected to reduce spending by a One Billion Baht a year!
